The First Time/Orginal Sister's Retreat

For years, Sandy, Peggy, Margie and Penny have talked about the time when they would quietly slip away from all responsibilities and duties to get together for some good sister fun. We've talked about going on a cruise or to a cabin in the woods or a beautiful, warm beach house. Penny made our dreams take place when she took matters into her own hands and reserved a room for us at the Salt Lake Sheraton.
We packed our pajamas, our toothbrushes, our hair brushes, our toe nail polish, snacks, books, I-pods, cross-stitch, camera's, and our "night time routine" materials and met up in Salt Lake.

We shared a room with two beds and spread out our stuff. Margie presented each of us with a hand-stitched lap pillow which says, "Sisters are Stars that Twinkle in My Heart." They are beautiful and we each treasure them. Then we each pulled out our surprises for each other and it was like Christmas at the Harmon house all over.

We spent the night in our room, mostly because we were laughing so hard, we would have been an embarrassment to others. But, we couldn't help it. We just kept talking and laughing. I don't think any four roommates ever had as good a time as we did.

The next morning we slept in a bit, but were also anxious to get up and get going. Of course, we couldn't go anywhere until our toe nails were painted. We took turns painting each others toes and ended up painting them all the same color. Some of us tried different colors but we actually all liked the same color the best, so there you have it. I think Sandy made a comment about how silly we looked with all forty toes the same color. Then someone else said, "Don't worry about it. Nobody's going to notice." But, that's not how it turned out. The first sales clerk we ran into in the first store we went to asked, "How come your toenails are all the same color?" We just looked at her and said, "Because we're sisters and we're on a retreat." No more questions about our toes.
When we did finally leave our room we headed first for the nearby Denny's near where we had a very filling breakfast. And then we were off to Costco and on to the mall.
We shopped, we talked, we walked, we laughed and then we laughed some more. We decided to finish our day with dinner at Red Lobster. I can't imagine why, but...
We put our names on the waiting list and sat outside in the wonderful summer night air and laughed some more.
Finally our turn came and we were seated but the laughing didn't stop. It was a dinner to remember, for sure.
Although we were stuffed full, we went next door to the Olive Garden and got some desserts to take back to our room for the night.
The time went by way too quickly but before we left each other to return to our homes, we unanimously voted to have another "Sister's Retreat" again next year. Thus, ended the FIRST TIME/ORGINAL/ ANNUAL SISTER'S SWEET RETREAT.

Hanging Out in Heaven

"Here we are together, together, together. Here we are together retreating happily." Last year Margie arranged for us (Sandy, Peggy, Margie and Penny) to get together for our first "Sister's Retreat". We spent two nights at the Sheraton and then played in Salt Lake all day. Margie had made each of us a little pillow and sewn "Sisters are Stars that Twinkle in my Heart" on them. We had such a wonderful time (thank you, Margie!!) that we decided to make it an annual event.
This year we arranged to go to the Wyndam Resort at Bear Lake. Again, we have 3 days and two nights together (thank you, Sandy!!). As soon as we were in our condo, Peggy presented us with surprises. She had made each of us pillows and sewn "Sister's Sweet Retreat" on them, along with other gifts. So far, we've had a wonderful dinner on the patio, a full night of visiting (until 1:30 AM for some and later for others). This morning Margie and Penny fixed us a beautiful breakfast and we decided to set up a blogsite for all of us to contribute to.

Thus... "Sister's Sweet Retreat".
